Last year, BoomTown visited the downtown Palo Alto, Calif., storefront office of Tapulous, the maker of the hugely popular iPhone music game app Tap Tap Revenge. Disney confirmed it bought the Silicon Valley start-up yesterday, which sources said had been for sale for a while now, part of an inevitable consolidation in the online games space. Here’s the interview I did then with co-founders Andrew Lacy and Bart Decrem–both of whom are staying with Disney to work on mobile games initiatives–about the iPhone ecosystem and where it is all going.

Disney Buys iPhone Game Start-Up Tapulous

Disney has purchased Tapulous, one of the breakout stars of the new iPhone app economy; it’s the company behind several hit games, most notably the “Tap Tap” franchise. TechCrunch says both CEO Bart Decrem and COO Andrew Lacy will stay with Disney; PaidContent says the company will live in the Disney Interactive Media Group. I’ve confirmed the deal with a source familiar with the transaction.

Last night, Tapulous launched the second version of its hugely popular iPhone game app, Tap Tap Revenge. With Tap Tap Revenge 2, the Silicon Valley start-up is hoping to keep up the momentum of its first success on the Apple service. I visited the Tapulous offices in a former storefront in downtown Palo Alto, Calif., to interview co-founders Andrew Lacy and Bart Decrem to talk about the iPhone ecosystem and where it is all going.
