Yahoo Loses Another Exec (I Know, Déjà Vu!)

These kinds of exec departures are definitely going to get to be more regular as Yahoo’s restructuring looms, so here is today’s adieu: Luis Salazar, VP of global product marketing and business development. He’s well-regarded at the company, and came last year as part of the former Microsoft influx under Chief Product Officer Blake Irving, as did also-departing SVP of product management Bill Shaughnessy. Exclusive: High-Ranking Yahoo Product Exec Shaughnessy Departs

Bill Shaughnessy, who is Yahoo’s SVP of product management, is leaving the company, according to an internal memo he sent out this morning to staff. No Massive Reorg at Yahoo, But More Exec Departures (Plus the Schneider Goodbye Letter)

Sorry, folks, but–despite reports–Yahoo will not be unveiling another new organizational structure this week. In actuality, the beleaguered Internet giant is just cleaning up from last week’s shake-up–in which it announced that a chunk of its top media and sales leadership was leaving–as well as settling in new hires made in recent months by its relatively new product head, Blake Irving. In fact, those changes in Irving’s unit have resulted in the departure of two more execs. That would be former SVP of Media Products and Solutions Jeff Kinder and SVP for Cloud Computing Shelton Shugar, who are on their way out.

Another Former Microsoft Exec to Yahoo, Joining Other Ex-Softies

Is it just BoomTown, or is it odd that the new leaders of Yahoo are suddenly all the old Microsoft guys whom once high-flying Yahoo execs bested soundly back in the day? I love digital irony! In any case, Yahoo just hired yet another former Microsoft exec–this time, John Matheny, whose last job at the software giant was as the GM of its Windows Phone App Studio. He is now SVP of Yahoo’s communications products and communities unit.

Exclusive: Yahoo Makes Another Major Product Exec Hire From Microsoft

After a query from BoomTown, Yahoo confirmed this afternoon that it had hired former Microsoft online exec Bill Shaughnessy as SVP of Product Management. Shaughnessy will start next week and report to Chief Product Officer Blake Irving, another longtime vet of the software giant who recently arrived at Yahoo. Yahoo could certainly use more expertise in the product arena, given it is considered a lot slower than competitors at rolling out new products in the fast-moving online market.

Microsoft on the Hunt for a New Head of World-Wide Online Sales, Even as Yahoo Talks Continue

Microsoft is searching for a major executive to run its world-wide online sales, said several sources close to the situation, even as talks with Yahoo about a deal to partner in its search and display advertising businesses continue. “They need to find a way to make money in display,” said one source close to the situation. “Or, I guess, find a way to not lose quite so much.” The software giant has been trying to build its online business for many years now, spending a lot of money and not getting very much traction. Meanwhile, the talks Microsoft has been having with Yahoo about outsourcing its online display sales to the Internet giant, among other scenarios, continue.

In the wake of the changes at Microsoft’s online division, a senior ad sales exec, Bill Shaughnessy, is set to leave his post, the company confirmed.
