Hewlett-Packard currently has about 304,000 employees worldwide. Three years from now it will have 301,000. The company today said it will reduce its employee roster by 3,000 employees, or one percent of its workforce, over the next few years. Nine thousand workers will lose their jobs, with 6,000 new ones to be hired in the same period.

Nokia: 2010 Will Be Better–We Promise

A bit of good news for Nokia in its seemingly endless parade of bad. The company said today that it expects handset industry volumes to rise 10 percent in 2010 from 2009 as the market rebounds from the econalypse. “Going into 2010, the overall mobile devices market is stabilizing and it is growing more in the areas where Nokia has competitive advantages,” CFO Timo Ihamuotila said during the company’s Capital Markets Day event today.

If Kindle Is Selling So Well, How About Giving Us Some Sales Data?

November isn’t quite over, but Amazon is already calling it the “best sales month ever” for its Kindle e-reader. “Kindle is…flying off the shelves faster than any other product Amazon sells,” the retailer said in a celebratory press release this morning. “[It’s] the most wished for, the most gifted, and the number one bestselling product across all product categories on Amazon.”
