There certainly have been lots of new Zynga hires recently.

In addition to Kara Swisher’s BoomTown report that Zynga has hired Taylor Barada, Yahoo’s recently appointed head of M&A, for an unspecified role, Zynga has now hired former Cisco exec Debra Chrapaty as CIO.

Chrapaty previously was the SVP of Cisco’s Collaboration Software Group, where she worked on enterprise collaboration software services and cloud infrastructure.

Zynga said her experience working on one of the world’s largest networks will help support Zynga’s infrastructure and internal collaboration as it develops games for millions of players around the world.

Chrapaty will report to Zynga’s CTO, Cadir Lee.

In previous roles, Chrapaty worked at Microsoft and was also president and COO of eTrade. She left Microsoft in late 2009 for Cisco, as BoomTown reported then.

Through Zynga’s network of social games online, it gathers a ton of information and data that is useful to improve games. The better the games, the better they will monetize as players are compelled to play more.

In a statement, Chrapaty said: “Through its focus on leading technology, Zynga is redefining how we look at play. My job will be to make it easier for our employees to design and build for play. I am looking forward to tackling Zynga’s unique technology challenges and helping develop infrastructure systems to ensure that we have the most scalable, secure, and reliable systems in place.”

Zynga has been hiring aggressively, mostly though small studio acquisitions. It has been acquiring one every month for the past 11 months. Last year, it hired more than 800 people and today has more than 1,500 full-time employees in 13 offices, spanning six countries.

On Monday, Zynga beefed up its board of directors by adding Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO and co-founder of DreamWorks Animation.

One of Microsoft’s top execs, Debra Chrapaty (pictured here), who heads its infrastructure business, is leaving the software giant to take a top job at Cisco (CSCO), sources said.

Chrapaty–whose title is corporate VP of Global Foundation Services–is also one of increasingly few top women tech execs at Microsoft (MSFT), where she has worked for seven years.

The job put her in charge of, as a Microsoft site notes, “strategy and delivery of the foundational platform for Microsoft Live, Cloud and Online Services worldwide including physical infrastructure, security, operational management, global delivery and environmental considerations. Her organization supports over 200 online services and web portals from Microsoft for consumers and businesses.”

In other words: A lot of plumbing.

She was featured onstage with other key execs at Microsoft’s Financial Analysts Meeting earlier this summer.

Sources said Chrapaty will now shift to products at Cisco, running the collaboration software group.

That unit’s former exec, Doug Dennerline, recently moved to Salesforce.com (CRM) to take a job as its EVP of sales for the Americas.

At Cisco, as had Dennerline, Chrapaty is likely to play a large role in forming the networking giant’s cloud computing and software-as-a-service strategies.

Chrapaty has worked at a lot of tech companies, including Organic, AllBusiness and Etrade Technologies. She was also CTO of the National Basketball Association.

Add another name to the list of Yahoo employees defecting to Microsoft. Dayne Sampson, Yahoo’s VP of Operations for Search and Advertising, has fled the company for its former suitor, Microsoft confirmed to Digital Daily.

Add another name to the list of Yahoo employees defecting to Microsoft. Dayne Sampson, Yahoo’s VP of operations for search and advertising, has fled the company for its former suitor, Microsoft confirmed to Digital Daily. He’s taken a job in Redmond’s Global Foundation Services division, the group charged with supporting Microsoft’s (MSFT) MSN and Windows Live branded services. He’ll be reporting to Debra Chrapaty, the division’s corporate VP.

“We’re very excited to have Dayne Sampson join the team, reporting to Debra Chrapaty, corporate vice president, Global Foundation Services,” a Microsoft spokesperson commented about the hire. “Operations and foundation services are key to delivering the Microsoft Software plus Services vision, and Dayne’s extensive operations and industry experience will be a strong asset for GFS and the company.”

Sampson’s departure follows similar migrations by Sean Suchter, Yahoo’s VP of search technology; Qi Lu, one of its top search scientists; Larry Heck, former VP of search & advertising sciences at Yahoo Labs; and Jan Pedersen, who was once chief scientist and VP of Yahoo’s (YHOO) Search and Advertising Technology Group. As I said last week, If Yahoo employee defections to Microsoft continue apace, there may come a day when Redmond will no longer need to buy the struggling company’s search business. It will already have acquired it.

Oh, one last thing: time to update that LinkedIn profile, Dayne…
