			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123939209770209171.html">news broke</a> of the death of Dave Arneson, co-creator of the cult role-playing game Dungeons &#038; Dragons, the blogosphere lit up with mourning, and online gaming mags published tributes to one of the pioneers of modern geekery.</p>
<p>On the site for Wizards of the Coast, the current distributor of Dungeons &#038; Dragons and the self-proclaimed world leader in “hobby gaming,” a <a href="http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4news/20090409">somber message</a> is posted about Mr. Arneson’s death: “Whether you’re a lifelong D&#038;D player or a newcomer to RPGs, a traditional paper-and-pencil gamer or an online role-player, we all owe a great debt of thanks to Dave Arneson and his groundbreaking Blackmoor game.”</p>
