Fashion News and Shopping Site Refinery29 Raises $20 Million

Refinery29, one of the most prominent Web properties pursuing the “content + commerce” meme, has raised a $20 million C round funded by Stripes Group. The fashion news/shopping company, which has raised more than $30 million since 2005, says it will use the money to push into new categories, including beauty and entertainment, and will also invest in technology. Refinery29 says it has a global audience of 11 million people.

AOL’s Huffington Post Adds Ecofabulous Content

AOL-owned Huffington Post is adding a large amount of environmental-focused content from Ecofabulous, and making its founder, Zem Joaquin, an editor at large of home and lifestyle. In a nonexclusive licensing and revenue-sharing deal, the dedicated Ecofabulous page said that the online content site “will host original product reviews and recommendations featuring environmentally conscious beauty, fashion, home, kids, tech, and lifestyle items; provide resources for readers aiming to live a green life; profile environmentally-pioneering companies; and serve as a place to inspire readers seeking the recommendations of expert editors and designers.”

Two Los Angeles subscription fashion e-commerce startups, JustFab and ShoeDazzle, are combining forces. The brands, which will remain separate for now, said they project they’ll bring in $400 million in total sales, and will reach profitability in 2014. News of the deal had first been reported by PandoDaily.
