First-quarter earnings for eBay exceeded analysts’ estimates, but the company’s tepid second-quarter forecast appears to have turned investors’ stomachs. Shares in eBay slid seven percent Wednesday after the company said it expects profit of between 37 cents and 39 cents a share in the current quarter–short of the 40 cents a share the Street was expecting.

IBM had a very good second quarter, all things considered. The company reported earnings that trounced analysts’ estimates and raised its full-year earnings forecast. Earnings were $2.32 per share, up from $1.97 per share in the same period last year, and well above the $2.02 per share the Street was looking for.
