Handybook, an on-demand service for finding housecleaners and handy people, has raised $10 million from General Catalyst Partners and Highland Capital Partners. Available in eight U.S. markets, the service promises it can book professionals (a.k.a. not TaskRabbit-y people) within a minute.
Hearst Ventures is leading an $8 million investment in Swirl, a commerce-focused startup that helps brick-and-mortar retailers target offers to shoppers on their mobile phones. Swirl previously raised a $6 million round last summer from SoftBank Capital, General Catalyst and Longworth Venture Partners.
News ByteRed Hot Labs, the gaming development startup founded by two ex-Zynga engineers who helped create FarmVille, announced Thursday it raised $1.5 million in seed funding.
