Checkout was used as the primary way to pay for apps in the Android Market, but was largely assumed to lack mass adoption, since it was never required. In a blog post, Google said it is merging Checkout with its newest payment strategy, called Google Wallet, which will be used to pay for things on Android Market, YouTube, Google+ Games and other Google sites.
