Apple seems to like to cut off the heads of all adults — kids appear to be spared the semi-beheadings — in these latest ads for its new iPhone 4S featuring the Siri voice control feature.

So, Siri: What is up with that — and the creepy “Halloween” style music that goes along with it?

I get that it is all about focusing on voice, but it still looks odd.

Oh, just watch, even if you have half a brain (I also added the video of the previous ad):

Google+ today launched worldwide support for schools, companies and organizations using Google Apps, along with a few content analysis features and one that's just fun.

Google+ today launched worldwide support for the schools, companies and organizations that use paid and free versions of Google Apps, along with a few content analysis features and one that’s just fun.

The Apps version of Google+, which admins can turn on now or wait to be activated on their accounts in the next few days, offers the same features as the consumer version, Google said.

People who are already using Google+ on a personal account can migrate to their Apps account. Apps users will see an automatic Google Circle for members of the organization on their accounts.

Google product manager Ronald Ho wrote today on the Google Enterprise Blog, “It took more technical work than we expected to bring Google+ to Google Apps, and we thank you for your patience. This integration is just the beginning.”

Also today, Google+ launched a number of new content features including a trending posts list called “What’s Hot on Google+,” information visualizations about how a public post is shared called “Ripples” (example here) and photo filters and editing tools with Picnik.

To promote those photo editing tools and itself, Google+ is seeding a viral campaign with the hashtag #gplushalloween where users make their profile pictures spooky for Halloween. (You can see mine at left, and some G+ public figures below.)

The larger context of these launches is that Google+ had some seriously major things missing at launch that it’s now gradually adding while asking for patience given the project is so new and its ambition is so large. The search company’s social network added search last month, and SVP Vic Gundotra recently promised that Apps support, brand support, a developer platform and pseudonym support are all coming soon.

Here is a funny but decidedly creepy new commercial from Microsoft (MSFT), in its ongoing marketing campaign to push its Bing search service.

In the commercial, below, titled “Vampire Decision Engine,” the software giant taps into vampire mania, playing into Halloween and the next chapter in the “Twilight” movie series, “New Moon,” set to debut in November.

In it, an Edward Cullen type, aided by a comely young woman, is looking for a place to “eat.”

According to Bing’s blog, it’s one of a new series of television spots in its $100 million marketing campaign.

The creative is different from earlier commercials, which featured search-overloaded people spouting keywords.

“Our latest Bing advertisement is the first in a series of new commercials where we highlight specific ways Bing can help simplify your life and help you make decisions faster,” said Bing in its blog.

You can see more video on Bing’s YouTube channel, owned by, yep, Google (GOOG)!

The folks at Zillow.com have created their first Trick or Treat Housing Index, which draws on the site’s real estate data to determine the top-five neighborhoods in Seattle and Los Angeles to maximize candy intake this Saturday.

How’d they do that? “There is a common belief that wealthy neighborhoods are the Holy Grail for harvesting the most Halloween candy,” blogs Zillow’s Whitney Tyner. But to provide what it calls a more holistic approach, Zillow factored in home values alongside additional data on population density, neighborhood walkability, and local crime. “Based on those variables, this Index represents neighborhoods that will provide the most candy, with the least walking, and minimum safety risks,” she wrote.

With today’s further decline–as I write this, the Nasdaq Composite is down another 86 points, or 5.2 percent, to 1,559–the index has tumbled 45 percent since peaking at 2,859 last Halloween. I think we can all agree that a 45 percent decline qualifies as a market crash, can’t we?

In fact, this decline is actually worse than the roughly 36 percent decline on the Nasdaq from peak to trough in 1987, but not nearly so bad as the 78 percent nightmare from 5,048 on March 10, 2000 to 1,114 on Oct. 9, 2002.

Still, it is startling that the current crisis is now worse–considerably worse, in fact–than what happened in 1987. And we’re hardly out of the woods. Next week, earnings season begins in earnest, and it is not going to be pretty.

While you might have seen it everywhere by now, BoomTown promised this would actually be the last post of the multitude of video spoofs about Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that have popped up on the Web of late.

Thus, here is Tina Fey's version--which, as I expected, is the best--of Palin on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend. She is joined by Amy Poehler, who does a perfect slow-burn impression of New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

It will doubtless be the most popular video online this week.

While you might have seen it everywhere by now, BoomTown promised this would actually be the last post of the multitude of video spoofs about Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that have popped up on the Web of late.

Thus, here is Tina Fey’s version–which, as I expected, is the best–of Palin on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. She is joined by Amy Poehler, who does a perfect slow-burn impression of New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

The parody deftly managed to be funny without being sexist–even though it mocked the issue of sexism in politics–although some surely will accuse it of being so. They’re wrong.

In any case, the best line was actually Fey/Palin’s interpretation that global warming was “just God huggin’ us closer.”

While Palin did not give an official reaction to the much-anticipated comedy sketch, reporters on the campaign trail reported she did watch it and overheard her comment that she once dressed up as Fey for Halloween.

Life is truly stranger than fiction.

Here’s the video, which will doubtless be one of the most popular on the Internet this week:
