Is AT&T capping data uploads on Apple’s iPhone 4? Not on purpose. Turns out a software issue is responsible for reports of dramatic drops in data upload speeds in some regions of the country, including New York and Philadelphia.

AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity deal with Apple is set to expire as early as next year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t be renewed–despite complaints about the carrier’s network. That’s the word from iSuppli, which predicts Apple will extend its agreement with AT&T because it has no reason not to.

AT&T is on track to complete the upgrade of its 3G mobile broadband network by the end of June. Good thing, too. Because we’re just weeks away from the eagerly anticipated launch of Apple’s 3G iPhone and AT&T–Apple’s exclusive wireless carrier in the states–certainly doesn’t want to foul up the debut of the second generation iPhone, the way it did the first.
