IAC Sells Newsweek (Sans The Daily Beast) to IBT Media

International Business Times Media has acquired the 80-year-old news publication Newsweek from IAC, the company announced on Saturday. The deal, which is expected to close in the coming days, does not include The Daily Beast, the online news website run by Tina Brown, which merged with Newsweek in 2010, also owned by IAC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

IAC’s About Hires COO, Two More Execs

About.com, IAC’s answers website, has hired three executives: Scott Kim, who was previously chief strategy officer at IAC’s Ask.com, will be chief operating officer; Alex Ellerson, previously Howcast Media’s COO, will become SVP for content; and Matthew Knell, previously AOL’s social media guy, will take a similar role. Earlier this year IAC hired Neil Vogel to run About, which it bought from the New York Times last summer.
