King.com Appoints EA Social Games Producer to Rule New London Studio

King.com, one of the fastest-growing social games companies on Facebook, has opened a new game studio in London that will be led by Electronics Arts and Playfish veteran Catharina Lavers Mallet. While an executive producer at EA, Lavers Mallet worked on major titles like The Sims Social. The London studio is expected to hire about 40 employees and to work with the company’s headquarters there in addition to other offices in Hamburg, Stockholm, Milan, Romania, Malta and San Francisco.

Rdio Head of Design Wilson Miner Goes to Facebook

Wilson Miner, the lead designer at streaming music application Rdio, has left the company for a design position at Facebook, according to a message Miner posted from his Twitter account on Monday. Miner was most recently responsible for a complete redesign of the Rdio web application launched at South by Southwest in March, and had been at the company for more than two years. Facebook also recently snagged two other prominent hires to work on design: Ex-YouTuber Margaret Stewart, and Elizabeth Windram, formerly of Quora.

American Express Hires Mobile Payments Exec David Yoo of Boku

American Express said today that David Yoo, formerly of mobile payments company Boku, will join the company as SVP of its Commerce Innovation team. At Boku, Yoo was SVP of Strategy, Product and Marketing. American Express also hired Katrina Lane, who will be EVP in charge of the company’s Consumer Cards and Experiences team. Most recently, Lane served as CTO of Caesars Entertainment.

Axcient Adds CFO From ShoreTel and Two VPs From WebEx

Axcient, a start-up that specializes in a hybrid data backup that keeps corporate systems running, said it has named John Finegan, the former CFO of ShoreTel and Cornerstone, as its new CFO. It also named Jeff Teddleton, a former exec with Cisco Systems unit WebEx, as its VP of Operations, and Pam Lyra, another WebEx veteran, as its VP of Customer Satisfaction.
