Security outfit Symantec said today that it would put two new board nominees before shareholders at its annual meeting on Oct. 22: Major General Suzanne Vautrinot, soon to retire as head of the Air Force component of the U.S. Cyber Command, and Anita Sands, who will be leaving UBS Wealth Management Americas after serving in several top positions.
Dan Bricklin, co-creator of VisiCalc and known as the “father of the electronic spreadsheet,” has hired on as chief technology officer for Alpha Software, the Burlington, Mass.-based maker of business software development tools. The company also added industry veteran John Cullinane as an investor and adviser, and announced the launch of Alpha Anywhere, a product for developing business software for multiple platforms.
News BytePatch, AOL’s local news platform, now has a president and COO, and it’s Steven Kalin, who previously held the COO position at radio syndication giant Westwood One and health and fitness publisher Rodale. He’ll report to Jon Brod, Patch’s CEO and co-founder.
News Bytenamed Jacqueline Reses, most recently head of the U.S. media group at Apax Partners, as its executive vice president of people and development, overseeing human resources and corporate development.
News Bytenamed John Schultz as executive VP and general counsel, replacing David Healy, who took the post on an interim basis in December. Schultz, who joined HP in 2008, will serve on the executive council and report to CEO Meg Whitman.
