In IPO-Signaling Move, Zynga Adds Fancy CFO

Zynga, the fast-growing social gaming site, said it had hired Allen & Co. investment banker David Wehner as its new CFO. He replaces Mark Vranesh, who becomes Chief Accounting Officer, reporting to Wehner. The move is yet another indication that the San Francisco-based start-up is prepping for an initial public offering, rounding out its executive team, which is headed by founder and CEO Mark Pincus.

While a lot of people doubted Arianna Huffington when she co-founded her eponymous blog site many years ago, she can add another I-told-you-so to the pile after today’s induction of the Huffington Post as an official Harvard Business School case study. AOL Also Likely to Eye Sale of MapQuest–Is Microsoft a Possible Buyer?

Yesterday, BoomTown wrote about AOL’s efforts–including hiring investment bankers–to sell its ICQ instant-messaging unit. But that’s probably not going to be the end of the shedding of assets at the online site. In fact, according to sources inside and outside AOL, one of the next candidates for sale could be its MapQuest online map service.
