Viral Video: Jen Aniston's Sex Tape (It's a Virus!)

While BoomTown is usually tired of the overexposed Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston, she is pretty funny in this online commercial for SmartWater, in which she tries make a video that “turns into a virus” by taking advantage of a number of viral Internet video trends. If only her movies were this clever.

Viral Video: Awkward, Party of Aniston

BoomTown is still cracking up over this video, another in the faux television talk show series on Funny or Die called “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis.” His genius of an unlikely pairing this outing: Reality star Tila Tequila and Jennifer Aniston.

Liveblogging Bing Demo: No Donuts, Unlikely to Pay for De-Indexing Google, but Cool New Maps

BoomTown is awaiting a passel of Microsoft execs, who will be talking about a range of new features for Bing. I will be liveblogging, but I must say, I wish there were donuts.

The AppleTwitter-Equals-iBrangelina Experiment*

Yesterday, in a BoomTown post about the latest unproven rumors that the world’s most iconic computer company, Apple, was in “late-stage” negotiations to buy Silicon Valley’s latest pretty young thing, microblogging service Twitter, I wrote: “Oh, the very notion of Apple and Twitter is a Techmeme dream-ticket, sure to be chewed over for days on end. (I once considered doing a post that just said “AppleTwitterAppleTwitterAppleTwitter…” for 1,000 words to see how much idiotic traffic I would get.)” Well, I reconsidered.

Weekend Update, 3.28.09

Another week into challenging times, and the theme for Weekend Update is undoubtedly cost-saving, with a healthy dose of revenue-seeking. On the revenue-seeking side, BoomTown’s Twitter Business Plan Count-Up hasn’t yielded any real keepers yet. There is a real contender, though–since Jennifer Aniston so publicly broke up with her boyfriend John Mayer on account of his Twitter “addiction,” BoomTown suggests offering “Twitter rehab” for those not willing to lose their relationships just yet.

There Must Be 77 Ways for Twitter to Make Some Money (But BoomTown Is Backing the Aniston Solution!)

Yesterday, the revenue-unencumbered microblogging service, Twitter, came up with ExecTweets, sponsored by Microsoft, as a way to bring in the simoleons. Without diving into the deep specifics, suffice it to say, BoomTown is not exactly doing somersaults at the idea of following, say, what the fine execs at AIG are up to on a regular basis (Typical tweet: Taxing stolen taxpayer-funded bonuses?!? Where’s the outrage?). Still, good for Twitter for at least pretending it actually cared about profits. In that spirit, here are some more ideas, one of which could finally bring Jennifer Aniston some much deserved happiness!

Don't Vote! (Except, It's Celebs Being Ironic, So Do!)

Here’s an interesting online video, in which a passel of celebrities urge young people to vote. It begins with them urging youth not to vote, in that hipster, sarcastic, of-course-we-really-mean-you-should-vote-you-dope tone. The nonpartisan PSA–well, honestly, it does lean decidedly liberal–has been produced by actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and includes DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston, Dustin Hoffman, Eva Longoria, Forest Whitaker, Ellen DeGeneres, among others.

Weepy Singer John Mayer Is Actually Funny

While I sometimes want to throttle him for his more cloying songs, like the agonizing “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” it’s clear John Mayer has a good sense of humor about his image. The smoky-eyed singer-songwriter and guitarist, who also has yet to meet a Hollywood actress he doesn’t date (current date: Jennifer Aniston!), just [...]
