Next Stop on Obama’s Social Network Town Hall Tour: LinkedIn

President Barack Obama is an equal-opportunity stumper, and after participating in town hall Q&A sessions with Facebook and Twitter users, on Monday he will head to the Mountain View, Calif., headquarters of the recently IPOed professional network LinkedIn. This is a particularly topical visit, given Obama wants to talk about job creation.

Cisco Adding a Few Thousand More Hires to “Human Network”

Well, this is encouraging. Cisco Systems, which on Wednesday reported a dramatic year-over-year jump in sales and profit, is hiring up. The company increased its global workforce by about 2,100 in its second quarter. And it plans to add between 2,000 and 3,000 employees in the third and fourth.

FCC Chair Proposes Net Neutrality Rules

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski this morning proposed broad new rules prohibiting Internet providers–both wireless and wireline–from selectively blocking or slowing Internet traffic. “It is vital that we safeguard the free and open Internet,” Genachowski said during at event at the Brookings Institute.
