Viral Video: Humpilates Hysterical

This mock fitness video by late-night television talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is so funny that it made BoomTown do several spit-takes watching it. It is for a product called “Hottie Body Humpilates,” and includes a bevy of glam Hollywood actresses doing bad things to an exercise ball. Enough said.

Cheezburger's $30M Gets the Taiwanese Animator Send-Up

Next Media Animation depicts Cheezburger CEO Ben Huh as an evil stealer of memes, over-worker of cats and receiver of Internet flames. It’s pretty funny.

Viral Video: The American Jewish World Service Is Funny

Here is a very charming PSA for the American Jewish World Service, which appeared on FunnyorDie.com. It was done by Hollywood directing and writing phenom Judd Apatow and a passel of celebrities, celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary. BoomTown’s fave, as usual, is Lindsay Lohan.

People’s iPad App Free to Print Subscribers

Looks like People magazine’s rumored iPad standoff with the photo agencies that supply it with paparazzi shots is over. The publication’s iPad app debuted early this morning, and with an interesting twist: A subscription-verification interface that permits current People subscribers to download the issues for free.

Viral Video: Snooki Gets Taiwanesed Too!

Last week, it was inebriated actress Lindsay Lohan–and, this week, it is falling-down-drunk reality show star Snooki Polizzi. Getting the wacky CGI treatment, that is, from Taiwanese “news” outfit Next Media Animation. Depicting the “Jersey Shore” potty-mouthed princess pretty accurately–making out, passing out and getting smacked–I am starting to think these videos are the work of geniuses.

Viral Video: Lindsay Lohan Gets Taiwanesed

BoomTown is back from the woods of rural New York and was thrilled to find this waiting for me: Lindsay Lohan getting the wacky CGI treatment by Taiwanese “news” outfit Next Media Animation. Lohan is out of jail, after 13 days of incarceration, and is now in rehab–all of which is covered here, along with other examples of the unstable actress’s greatest hits.

Oh, Home Back in the Range (Of Wireless Access!)

BoomTown has finally dragged all my various and sundry bags of gadgetry back to San Francisco after a week of it sitting mostly useless on a ranch in Wyoming. However did I manage that?–at least according to a recent slightly alarmed series of articles in the New York Times about how technology is messing with our inner chi. The paper also has been urging readers to unplug and then tell the tale. Memo to the NYT editors: I survived the whole analog encounter just fine.

Tiger Woods Apology Boosts His Standing Online

Tiger Woods may have more atoning to do with Elin Nordegren, but a preliminary pulse-taking online suggests that at least some of his fans are coming around. The golf star apologized Friday for his infidelity and the ensuing sex scandal, and according to Zeta Interactive, a New York digital-marketing firm that measures online reputations, that helped boost his ratings.

BoomTown Decodes Google CEO Schmidt's Shut-Up-You-Whiny-News-Folk Op-Ed (So You Don't Have To)!

Google CEO Eric Schmidt did one of his patented throat-clearers in an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal today and it pretty much begs for translation. Well, BoomTown shall not tarry from the task of decoding the extra-long rumination from the head of Google, who was responding to the recent spate of aggressive attacks by traditional media publishers. They have blamed the search giant for everything from their current business woes to the destruction of journalism to Tiger Woods’s dicey marital troubles. Okay, not that! But the rest for sure.
