DataSift Raises $6M as Investor “Doubles Down on Twitter Ecosystem”

DataSift, one of only two licensed resellers of real-time Twitter data and the creator of TweetMeme, has raised $6 million in Series A funding from IA Ventures and GRP Partners. Investor Mark Suster of GRP wrote a long blog post explaining that he is “doubling down on the Twitter ecosystem by investing in DataSift,” which boils down to a pitch for Twitter and its reasonableness toward outside developers versus other platform companies like Apple, Google and Facebook.
