Galaxy Tab to Cost $600 at Verizon Wireless

Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Tab, one of the first tablets to rival Apple Inc.’s iPad, will hit Verizon Wireless stores Nov. 11 and cost $599.99. The Samsung seven-inch tablet will run on Verizon’s 3G wireless network. Apple’s iPads capable of 3G service, running on AT&T Inc.’s network, start at $629.

Visa to Pay $2 Billion for CyberSource

Visa Inc. has agreed to pay $2 billion for CyberSource Corp., a provider of electronic-payment security services to online merchants. Visa will pay $26 a share using cash on hand, a 34 percent premium to CyberSource’s closing price Tuesday. CyberSource’s price was last at that level a decade ago, when the stock traded above $65 at the height of the Internet bubble.

Online Shopping Up From Last Year, but Well Below Trend

Internet researcher comScore said consumers spent more shopping online in the first 22 days of the holiday season than they did during the same period last year. But even though they are expected to spend more this season than during last year’s downtrodden holiday season, consumers are likely to keep their online spending tempered, the group said.
