Dear Andrew "No Comment" Mason: How About a Comment on That Unfortunate New Beard?

That Internet sprite, Groupon Co-founder and CEO Andrew Mason, continued in his quest to be the cleverest little entrepreneur on the Web with a very funny post on the Chicago-based start-up’s blog yesterday titled: “No Comment.”

SurveyMonkey Says: Mark Zuckerberg Needs to Get Out More (With an IPad)!

The All Things Digital readership has spoken: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was wrong in declaring that the Apple iPad was not mobile. In fact, 1,671 takers of a survey BoomTown ginned up on the subject using SurveyMonkey disagreed with him 85.1 percent to 14.9 percent.

Exclusive: Brandee "No Comment" Barker Finally Comments–Longtime PR Honcho Is Leaving Facebook

BoomTown usually does not get all weepy over the departure of public relations folks at Internet companies, in that cynical I’ve-seen-’em-come-and-I’ve-seen-’em-go kind of way. But the leaving of Brandee Barker from Facebook most certainly elicited a small single tear of sadness this morning, when she called into All Things Digital Global HQ to say she would no longer be tossing me her patented–and very endearing–hand-in-the-face “no comment” for the powerful social networking site. After four long and tumultuous years, she leaves Facebook Dec. 10.

Yahoo Announces Deep Integration Partnership With Social Gaming Start-Up Zynga

Yahoo announced a partnership to weave Zynga throughout its service this morning. BoomTown actually called Zynga CEO Mark Pincus and asked him specifically about this deal last week and he denied it completely, not even relying on a more appropriate “no comment.” In fact, he noted expansively that Yahoo had completely missed the boat in social gaming and that such a deal was probably a good idea to keep it relevant in the space. That’s the truth, actually. And the move by the gaming start-up is an attempt to increase distribution of its popular games, such as FarmVille, beyond Facebook.

Want to get the latest news on “Courier,” Microsoft’s rumored-but-not-confirmed answer to Apple’s iPad? Microsoft doesn’t want to talk about it. But Redmond does have a suggestion for you: Read the gadget blogs.

Who’s Joining Steve Jobs for the Tablet Launch Next Week?

Apple is set to show off a shiny new device, which means the company needs shiny new media products to show off, too. Like what? Some educated guesses: Expect stuff from Disney and the New York Times, but not from the music labels.

A Tour of Facebook's London Office (Plus Another "No Comment," but in a Charming Accent)

On BoomTown’s trip to London earlier this week, I stopped by the U.K. and Ireland offices of Facebook for a look-see. Located just off once-swinging Carnaby Street, it’s a very small operation, mostly dedicated to advertising sales. But I did run into some engineers too, at what is Facebook’s most important international outpost.

Girls in Tech "Journalism 2.0" Panel: Speak Loudly and Carry a Big Stick

Last night, BoomTown moderated a really interesting panel for an organization called Girls in Tech, titled “Journalism 2.0 RoundTable.” Girls in Tech describes itself as a “social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent & influential women.” With those lofty requirements–combined with the fact that I was a girl when we had yet to land on the moon–I have no idea what I was doing there.
