KPCB Doubles Down on iFund: $200 Million for iPhone and iPad Apps

Add Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers to the list of companies funding iPad app development. This morning the storied venture capital firm said it is doubling the $100 million fund it established to provide seed capital for iPhone apps to fuel development of new apps for Apple’s iPad.

Chinese iPhone Announcement Tomorrow?

If Apple hasn’t already signed a deal to bring the iPhone to China, it’s getting damn close. Sources tell Reuters that China Unicom may announce the rumored agreement as soon as tomorrow.

Pre-Mature Exhilaration?

Optimism over the Pre’s chances of lifting Palm out of its downward spiral may be a bit… overly optimistic. In better times, the device might have proven to be just the curative the handset maker’s ailing business needs, but with the economy mired in the worst recession we’ve seen in decades, it may be more difficult than imagined for the Pre to restore Palm to its former glory.
