A handful of iPad reviews published online moments ago and they’re largely positive–with some expected caveats about its lack of a camera and support for Flash and multitasking. Apple is indeed hosting a music-related event next Wednesday, Sept. 9, as first reported by Digital Daily. This morning, the company broadcast invitations to a product launch gathering to be held on that day at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Nasdaq Manages an Up Day; Bottom-Fishing in Evidence

While it was another down day for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Nasdaq Composite actually broke a string of seven down days and posted a modest gain: The index rose 4.39, or 0.3 percent, to 1,649.51. The index nonetheless finished the horrific week with a loss of nearly 298 points, or 15.3 percent. At one point today the index touched as low as 1542.45, stretching the loss for the week to just over 400 points, or nearly 21 percent. Astonishing.

"Head in the Sand"? That's a Euphemism, Right?

Looks like somebody’s got a case of the Mondays–Research in Motion. Shares in the company slipped more than 6 percent to a new 52-week low today. This after charting a new 52-week low last Friday driven by the 27 percent drop they took after RIM issued a lower-than-expected forecast for the current period. That decline was the company’s steepest in eight years and belied CEO Jim Balsillie’s claims that emerging competition from new handset makers isn’t undermining RIM’s competitive position.
