The e-reader is going home-shopping for the holidays. Shortly after Amazon cut the price of its Kindle e-reader, Interead, maker of the rival Cool-er device, said it has signed on with home-shopping network QVC to help it launch Cool-er in the U.S.

Liberty Media Jumps 10 Percent as Q2 Sales, Ebitda Beat

Shares of John Malone’s Liberty Media Interactive, owner of “QVC,” are up sharply this morning after the company beat Q2 expectations for revenue and operating profit. Revenue fell, year over year, to $1.9 billion, the company reported, yielding adjusted Ebitda of $412 million. Still, that was ahead of the $1.834 billion and $345 million average estimate of analysts.

Come late December, customers shopping at their local Wal-Mart will be leaving the big-box retailer not just with vacuum cleaners and massage cushions, but with iPhones as well. Boy Genius reports that Apple’s iconic phone will begin arriving at select Wal-Mart locations on Dec. 28.

As BoomTown has noted, one of the best things to come out of this election has been the very funny and very topical humor that has been on “Saturday Night Live” in this political cycle. Headlined by Tina Fey’s perfect impression of Sarah Palin, it has been biting without stooping to the rank meanness from so many other places by both sides. Last night, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain–who has been on SNL before (his “John McCain sings Streisand” skit was really a gem from that appearance)–was in two skits on the show and did a great job in both.
