Confirmed: Microsoft Will Announce Acquisition of Skype Tomorrow Morning

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier tonight that Microsoft–in what would be its most aggressive acquisition in the digital space–was zeroing in on buying Skype for $8.5 billion all in. Sources told BoomTown tonight that the deal for the online telephony and video communications giant is actually done and will be announced early tomorrow morning.

Seesmic Raises $4 Million in Funding From Salesforce.com

In an interesting social enterprise move, popular social networking collaboration tool Seesmic is taking a $4 million investment from Salesforce.com, as well as from Softbank. The San Francisco-based Seesmic has one of the top desktop and mobile applications for monitoring a consumer’s various feeds from Twitter, Facebook and more.

TripIt Travel Planner Bought by Concur for $82 Million-Plus

Expense reporting company Concur today announced it would buy travel planning start-up TripIt in a deal worth as much as $120 million, including $82 million in cash, stock and restricted stock units up front.

Earlier this week, I headed down to Mountain View, Calif., to the downtown HQ of Polyvore–the unusually named start-up aimed at the inner stylist in everyone–to talk about the economics of fashion online. The odd name is a combination that roughly means the devouring of many or much–which at Polyvore translates into leopard prints, kitten heels or the rubber clothes of Lady Gaga. The registered site, with six million unique monthly visitors, allows users to “mix & match products from your favorite stores” into fashion “sets” on any topic, concept or–in BoomTown’s taste-challenged case–fleece and Pumas.
