Koprol, a Jakarta-based social geolocation service, bears striking similarities to the hot New York-based one Yahoo offered $100 million for recently to no result. Actual News on Earnings Call: Yahoo Disables Annoying "Hover" Tool on Homepage, Restructures International Ops

News was actually committed during Yahoo’s fourth-quarter earnings conference call today when CEO Carol Bartz noted that the company would disable its irksome “hover interaction” on the homepage and that the Internet giant has restructured its international business. Yahoo reported results earlier today that slightly exceeded expectations in the fourth quarter, but it was no blowout.

One word: Shameful. So, no surprise that Yahoo, which is trying mightily to burnish its image worldwide, quickly apologized for the presence of lap dancers onstage at its Open Hack Day in Taiwan last weekend. Top Yahoo execs were at the hack event, although it’s not clear if they attended the lap-dancing part of the program, which seems to have a history of this sort of Pussycat-Dolls-meets-geeks tone.
