Latest Guess at Kindle Sales: 5 Million This Year, 11.5 Million in 2012

Since the Kindle’s launch in November of 2007, Amazon hasn’t been particularly forthcoming with the device’s sales figures. Trumpeting the latest iteration of the Kindle as “the fastest-selling ever” is about as specific as it’s gotten. So coming up with a yearly sales forecast for the Kindle is no easy task. But that doesn’t stop analysts from trying.

Hello World: Apple iPad Goes International on May 28

The international launch of the Apple iPad, which was delayed due to strong demand in the the U.S., will finally begin later this month. Apple will start accepting pre-orders for both the 3G and Wi-Fi models on Monday, May 10. And on May 28, it will begin shipping them.

If Kindle Is Selling So Well, How About Giving Us Some Sales Data?

November isn’t quite over, but Amazon is already calling it the “best sales month ever” for its Kindle e-reader. “Kindle is…flying off the shelves faster than any other product Amazon sells,” the retailer said in a celebratory press release this morning. “[It’s] the most wished for, the most gifted, and the number one bestselling product across all product categories on Amazon.”

Was the iPhone’s Launch in China Really a Bust?

Apple’s internationally coveted iPhone finally arrived at market in China last week and by most accounts its debut was uncharacteristically muted. There is “no sign of the sort of sellout reception that greeted the smart phone at its introduction in other countries,” The Wall Street Journal reported. Clearly, the device’s Chinese launch wasn’t the rousing success to which we’ve become accustomed. That said, it probably wasn’t quite the bust it’s been made out to be, either.
