Viral Video: Other TV Finales (That Were Much Better Than "Lost")

While the final episode of ABC’s “Lost” got all the attention last night, many were dissatisfied with the ending, which seemed to suggest the castaways were all dead the whole time. But here are BoomTown’s favorite TV finales, including my personal fave from HBO’s “Six Feet Under,” where all the deaths make much more sense given the premise.

BoomTown Can Count on Scooby-Dooby-Don't for Laughs: The Roast Video

Sadly, due to the sniffles and some minor hacking (thanks, kids!), BoomTown had to miss the roast of well-known blogger Robert Scoble that Startup2Startup hosted at its holiday party last night on Pier 38 in San Francisco. I was skedded to be one of the roasters, though, so I sent along a video of all my video encounters over the years at various tech events with the man I like to call Scooby-Don’t. Think Seinfeld and Newman of geeks and you have the right idea.

David Puddy, Meet the Mac: Here’s the “Seinfeld” Crossover Apple Ad You’ve Been Waiting For

In the old days, Apple sometimes used bonafide celebrities to help hawk its products–either willing participants like Jeff Goldblum or, via the miracle of archival footage, icons like Einstein, Dylan and Lennon. But for its long-running “I’m a Mac” campaign, Apple has primarily relied on actors who are most famous for appearing in Apple ads. Here’s a new one that splits the difference: It features Patrick Warburton, best known as “Puddy” on Seinfeld

Hi. I'm a PC … and I Was Made on a Mac [UPDATED]

The irony is enough to make your head explode. The latest evolution of Microsoft’s new ad campaign–the one designed to seize back control of the Windows PC image that Apple’s so mercilessly tarred and feathered–wasn’t even made on a PC. It was made on a Mac.

Seriously, Windows Is Just Another Way of Saying We Have Each Other?

Microsoft’s new ad campaign isn’t even a month old and already the company is de-featuring it. It’s dropping Jerry Seinfeld for the time being. Microsoft claims it had always planned to do this. Seinfeld was part of “phase one” of the campaign, it says. But he’s not part of “phase two,” which will feature some new personalities as well as Microsoft’s own version of the dorky PC guy in Apple’s “I’m a Mac” ads.

Hulu's Jason Kilar Speaks!

Here’s BoomTown’s longer interview with the deceptively sharp Hulu CEO Jason Kilar, which I did while I was visiting the start-up recently. In it, we discuss a wide range of topics about the premium online video service, which is a joint venture of NBC Universal (GE) and News Corp. (NWS) (owner of this site). In [...]

Simon Dumenco Saves Beacon's Bacon!

Don’t miss this very funny piece by AdAge columnist Simon Dumenco about suggestions for other new Facebook products in the wake of its Beacon fiasco. For those not following this sordid tale, the hot social-networking site stumbled badly in its handling of a new ad product that broadcasts your purchases from external Web sites back [...]
