New Apple iPad 3G Orders to Ship by May 7

Good news for folks who missed the pre-order deadline for the 3G version of the iPad: Apple has finally given the device a hard ship-date, Friday, May 7. Early adopters who pre-ordered an iPad 3G when it first went on sale will still receive theirs by late April, as promised.

Launch Day iPads Sold Out

Perhaps those claims that Apple will sell more iPads in the first three months than it sold original iPhones in the same period aren’t so far off. As of this morning, Apple has run out of launch-day Wi-Fi-only iPads.

About That March iPad Release Date…

When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPad on Jan. 27, he said it would be “available” in 60 days, implying an on-sale date of March 25. By announcing a pre-sale date of March 12, as it did this morning, the company has technically fulfilled that promise–yet it is not delivering the device to customers until April 3, about a week later. If the ship date was to be April 3, why didn’t Jobs say that at the January event?

Palm Pre Takes Off, Eh?

The Palm Pre is finally taking off in the Great White North. Canada’s Bell Mobility, which became the device’s exclusive Canadian carrier back in May, this morning announced a ship date and price for the Pre.
