Reddit Lands Facebook Vet Yishan Wong as CEO

Reddit has a new CEO. Former Facebook engineer Yishan Wong is joining the rapidly growing social news site, which owner Conde Nast is spinning out as a separate company — in part, so it could recruit people like Wong. “I’m not looking to step in and make ‘big, bold changes’ — I think reddit is great, and the team has a lot of good features already in the pipeline,” Wong wrote on a blog post announcing his move.

Digg Changes Its Toolbar Amid Publisher Complaints

Digg modified the toolbar that it launched two weeks ago, a response to Web publishers concerned that it could affect their visibility. The social-news site released the new feature on April 2. It adds a thin strip to the top of pages submitted to Digg that includes the number of times other users voted on, or “Dugg,” the link, the number of times the page was viewed and other statistics and browsing options.

Web 2.0 Expo: Digg Says Sharing Is Caring

According to Bob Buch, vice president of business development at Digg, sharing is caring. Or at least it is when it comes to being a successful Web publisher. In a Wednesday presentation at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, he advised content providers to harness the power of social-networking sites and use “share” buttons (such as Digg’s, of course) to optimize Web traffic.
