You'll Walk Out Humming "The Gentle Hum of Anxiety"

The soundtrack to “The Social Network,” created by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, will go on sale digitally on Sept. 28 and in other formats shortly thereafter, and it doesn’t sound like it will do anything to brighten the dark portrayal of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. Reznor describes the music as “electronic in basis, but mostly organic sounding. Lots of experiments and emphasis on sound fraying around the edges….” Among the 19 tracks: “Hand Covers Bruise,” “It Catches Up With You,” “On We March,” “The Gentle Hum of Anxiety” and “Soft Trees Break the Fall.”

Hulu Makes Its First Move Outside the U.S., Courtesy of a Reality Show You Don’t Know

Hulu is a big hit in the U.S. But even though the video site has spent a year trying to gain a foothold in other countries, you still can’t see it anywhere else. This should change early next year, but in the most limited way. Hulu plans to let users in the U.K., and most likely, other countries, access its U.S. site to watch a single show: The made-for-the-Web reality series, “If I Can Dream.”

Fantasy video games and heavy metal music seem like a perfect marriage, given that both often rely on Tolkien-esque imagery and create elaborate, male-centric alternate worlds. But while games use metal songs in their trailers, during play the soundtrack usually transitions into orchestral music. “Brutal Legend” on the other hand, a game for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 that’s being released tomorrow by Electronic Arts, is all metal, all the time.
