After claiming to have developed a means of producing free, clean and limitless energy out of thin air, the Irish tech firm canceled the mercilessly hyped first demonstration of its Orbo free energy device, citing technical difficulties.

Ah, undone by “technical difficulties”–the bugbear of all misunderstood inventors. Of course. And so the first law of thermodynamics, which states that energy can be neither created nor destroyed, will have to be broken another day.

“It’s too good to be true but it is true. It will have such an impact on everything we do. The only analogy I can give is if you had absolute proof that God wasn’t real. This is as big a claim as you can possibly make in the world of technology and science,” said Steorn CEO Sean McCarthy. “Five years ago, if I was watching this story from a distance, I would be thinking it was complete bull.”
