“Most of the things I’ve done have been made possible by the fact that I can pretty much do what I want,” he said during a keynote talk at Xconomy’s 6×6 forum Thursday in Boston.

Wolfram launched the software company in 1987. Its main product is Mathematica, a computational system used for everything from analyzing flight safety to managing hedge fund trading. Wolfram has also developed search engine WolframAlpha, which is used by the iPhone’s Siri technology.
