Japan Quake Roundup: Some Companies More Disrupted Than Others

Assessments of the disruptions that companies around the world are expecting as a result of the earthquake in Japan are still emerging nearly a week after the initial event. One thing that’s clear is that some companies will be worse off than others.

Analyst: iPhone 4 Launch a “2 Million-3 Million iPhone Event”

Apple’s announcement that it presold a record 600,000 iPhone 4s on Tuesday despite a fiasco of an ordering process has analysts predicting this year’s iPhone launch will be the best ever. Earlier this week, UBS analyst Maynard Um and Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster issued bullish first-weekend sales forecasts. And now Susquehanna Financial’s Jeff Fidacaro has followed suit with what I think is the most bullish prediction to date.

Though its shares are up more than 900 percent since January, Palm remains a “show me” story. So says Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeffrey Fidicaro, who seems to think the Street is putting a bit too much faith in the company’s next-generation platform, webOS, and the devices that run on it.
