No, you may not, and that’s what I said on Leo Laporte’s terrific “This Week in Tech” online show last Sunday about why Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced his recent $100 million donation to schools in Newark, New Jersey, on the same day as the splashy Hollywood movie–”The Social Network”–eviscerating him premiered. Because the powerful television talk show host wanted him on that week, since she was focusing on education reform! And what Oprah Winfrey wants, Oprah Winfrey gets–which is pretty much my motto for life. Here’s the video.

Yesterday, BoomTown posted on the mess created by NBC over its late-night talk show wrangling and all the good online videos that have resulted. The fracas involves Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and seemingly every dude who sits behind a desk and kisses up to celebrities for a living. Leno is still on a slow burn over the debacle, even as daytime talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres enters the brouhaha being created by Simon Cowell leaving “American Idol” just as she joins the show as a judge. And that means more videos!

Unlike Oprah, Letterman Does Not Even Pretend to Like–Or Even Know–Twitter

Here’s a priceless video segment from David Letterman’s “Late Show” last night, as he is taught how to use Twitter by actor Kevin Spacey. After asking how much it costs and noting that he could get anyone on Manhattan’s 57th Street to say hello just as much as Spacey could get tweets from his 800,000 followers, Letterman officially declares Twitter a “waste of time.” Perhaps so, but it also makes for great talk-show schtick.
