Dell’s new foray into the smartphone market looks to be a hell of a lot more impressive than you’d expect from a company with a historically lousy industrial design sensibility and lack of software development experience. Information leaked to Engadget reveals that Dell is working on a handful of impressive-looking handsets.

Uh-oh, Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz was expected to appear on the Internet giant’s third-quarter earnings call, but she apparently “came down with something,” according to CFO Tim Morse. BoomTown is sending over chicken soup right now, but let’s hope she gets her vaccinations tout de suite! Thus, no sassy quotes or cursing, but a very earnest Morse, who sounded like he was once a Boy Scout.

My CrackBerry and My SighPhone

With the drop in price of the iPhone in its new 3G mode to the low, low price of $199, Apple CEO Steve Jobs was signaling that he was pricing them to move. Or, as the old retail cliche goes: Stack them high and watch them fly. But, from reports, even though the 2.0 version is obviously better (although I have yet to see one), I will not be doing that again when the new iPhone 3G comes out in a few weeks.
