Tremor + Scanscout = Layoffs

A day after announcing a merger between video ad network Tremor Media and Scanscout, the new company is shrinking a bit. A rep for Tremor says “streamlining of overlapping operations” will result in layoffs of “less than a dozen” of the company’s 170 employees. The new company also has a new CEO: Scanscout’s Bill Day will take the top job, while Tremor CEO Jason Glickman moves to executive chairman–which means Sean Finnegan, who had been in conversations about joining the company, will end up somewhere else.

Digital ad star Sean Finnegan, who left his post at Starcom MediaVest earlier this week, may have a new gig already lined up: He’s in talks to take over the CEO post at video ad network Tremor Media.

Tremor Media Rounds Up Another $40 Million For Web Video Ads

Remember when the pre-roll — ads that run before Web video clips — was supposed to be on its way out? Somebody forgot to tell Tremor Media. The video ad network, which makes most of its money selling pre-rolls, has raised a $40 million funding round led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund, along with DFJ and Triangle Peak Partners. Earlier investors including Canaan Partners, Meritech Capital Partners, and SAP Ventures are also onboard.
