FCC to Rebuild Using Drupal

FCC Managing Director Steven VanRoekel announced today that–following in the footsteps of Whitehouse.gov, Commerce.gov and Ed.gov–the Federal Communications Commission will be rebuilding its Web site using the open source content management system Drupal. In the announcement, VanRoekel states that “This decision is a significant step towards modernizing our own underlying online infrastructure.”

President Obama's Online Town Hall Now Open for Questions on the Economy (Answers–If There Are Any–On Thursday!)

WhiteHouse.gov just opened for questions for a “community-moderated online town hall,” setting up for a Web appearance by President Barack Obama on Thursday. According to the site, anyone can: “Submit your own question about the economy and vote on submissions from others. We also encourage you to include a link to a video of yourself asking your question, but text submissions are all you need. Come back on Thursday to watch the President answer some of the most popular submissions live at WhiteHouse.gov.” There are already lots of questions submitted, but answers about the econalypse? Perhaps a little harder to find.

Change Has Come to WhiteHouse.Gov

At noon Eastern time on Tuesday, the very moment that the President-elect Barack Obama officially became Commander in Chief, the presidential Web site also made the switch from outgoing President George H.W. Bush to Obama. The new whitehouse.gov site promises more interactivity than that of the Bush administration, with a presidential blog as well as a briefing room, where President Obama will give a weekly video address.
