Apple Updates Mac Mini With HDMI, Mini DisplayPort
Looks like the iPhone 4 wasn’t the only new piece of hardware to go on sale in the Apple Store early this morning (in black only!). Joining it was a completely redesigned Mac mini.
Just 1.4-inches high, the latest iteration of the diminutive machine is smaller than its two-inch-tall predecessor and quite a bit more powerful. Packed into its new aluminum unibody enclosure: A 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz Intel (INTC) Core 2 Duo chip, Nvidia’s (NVDA) GeForce 320M GPU, 320GB hard disk, 8x double-layer SuperDrive and an integrated power supply. At the Mini’s rear: Four USB ports, SD card slot, Ethernet, an HDMI port and a Mini DisplayPort.
And as for price? Well, the Mini remains Apple’s (AAPL) “most affordable Mac ever.” But it has become a bit more expensive. The entry-level price is $699–$100 more than the model it replaced.
