Intel May Escape Fine in FTC Deal
After nearly a decade, Intel’s long-running antitrust battle with the Federal Trade Commission is nearing a settlement–remarkably, one that will probably not include a fine against the company. Sources familiar with the matter tell Reuters that Intel and the FTC are talking over a deal that requires the company to adjust its business practices, specifically to limit its use of volume discounts. Discussions are said to be ongoing, but a self-imposed deadline of July 22 means a settlement could be announced as early as this week.
