Motorola Ingests Aloqa

acquisitions_phag_thumbMotorola’s Motoblur social networking service will soon support location awareness, thanks to the company’s acquisition of Aloqa today.

Motorola (MOT) said this morning that it has purchased the developer of location-based software for an undisclosed sum and plans to use its technology to alert Motoblur users to activities, events, stores and restaurants in their vicinity. Aloqa will be integrated into Motorola’s Mobility division, which the company plans to spin off in the first quarter. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
