Zynga to Restructure Top Ranks, Three C-Suite Execs to Depart

In one of the first major acts under newly named CEO Don Mattrick, sources said Zynga plans to announce on Tuesday a shake-up of its top ranks as part of a larger management restructuring, resulting in the departure of three C-level executives.

Chief operating officer David Ko, chief people officer Colleen McCreary and chief technology officer Cadir Lee will step down from their positions and leave the company as a result, according to sources.

Zynga declined to comment.

The move comes within the first 90 days of Mattrick’s tenure, one of a number of changes Mattrick said would be coming on the company’s most recent quarterly earnings call. “So, here’s what I’m focused on in the next 90 days,” Mattrick said on the call. “Getting under the hood to evaluate every aspect of our business … spending time heads down with our teams and focusing on improving our product quality,” and lastly and perhaps most importantly, “… looking at how we’re deploying people at all levels of the company.”

As AllThingsD previously reported, the 49-year-old Mattrick left his position as Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment President in July, taking the reins of the ailing social gaming company over from founder and then-CEO Mark Pincus, who remains the company’s chief product officer and chairman.

The company’s last major restructuring of its top ranks occurred in November of last year, when Zynga promoted David Ko from chief mobile officer to COO, Mark Vranesh to CFO and Steve Chiang to president of games.

Shares of Zynga were trading up a penny in after hours at $2.92.

More to come as we hear it.

There was a worry before I started this that I was going to burn every bridge I had. But I realize now that there are some bridges that are worth burning.
