Nokia Looks to Free Netflix, Other Promos to Boost Lumia Sales
Nokia is hoping the lure of free Netflix subscriptions will help the company sell more Lumia phones in the United Kingdom.
Vodafone is offering either six or 12 months of free Netflix with the purchase of certain Lumia phones, while British retailer Phones 4u is giving Lumia customers six months of free Netflix.
The Nokia-backed Netflix offers are just an example of various promotions the company has planned between now and the end of the year to boost sales.
“Nokia’s Free Netflix Subscription promotion in conjunction with Vodafone and Phones 4u in the U.K. is just one example of a sustained program of marketing activities for the rest of year,” a Nokia representative told AllThingsD. “Nokia will continue to invest significantly in promoting its Lumia 1020 flagship devices in all media channels as well as working closely with our operator and retailer partners to deliver campaigns and propositions across our entire portfolio.”
The company also plans to introduce new products at an Oct. 22 event in Abu Dhabi.
