Viral Video: “Maleficent” Looks Digitally Magnificent
Oh, Angelina Jolie in twisty leather horns, whispering menacing threats of doom. Sign me up!
Actually, the digital special effects in this dark Disney live-action movie reboot of the “Sleeping Beauty” story look pretty awesome — especially the spiky tree thing.
Apparently, according to a plot teaser, the villainess Maleficent in the famous fairytale was tragically misunderstood and gets some explanatory backstory here. Sounds a lot like “Wicked,” but I am totes down with rethinking the whole mean, witchy ladies meme that Disney has unfortunately perpetuated (Cruella de Vil in “101 Dalmations,” Ursula in “The Little Mermaid,” the Evil Queen in “Snow White” — are you seeing a pattern here?).
