In pointed contrast to Apple’s strictly controlled iPhone app development system, Google has come up with a drag-and-drop tool that lets just anyone build an Android app. Google Labs is now doling out invitations to join beta testing of App Inventor, designed to let ordinary users tap and tinker with the operating system’s abilities and piece together their own simple programs.
