Europeans to Facebook: Where’s My Data?

A self-described “guerilla” organization of students from Austria dubbed Europe v. Facebook, has been making life a teensy bit more difficult for the social networking giant.

Formed just a couple months ago, the group has so far lodged 22 complaints against Facebook related to European privacy law. The complaints, which target how Facebook stores in-network user actions, have been filed through Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner. Why Ireland? Europe v. Facebook notes that Facebook’s User Terms say that its Ireland Office is the headquarters for all Facebook affairs outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Yesterday Ireland’s office of the Data Protection Commissioner announced that it was beginning an audit of Facebook after complaints.
