Angry Birds Make Plans to Head Into Space

Having fully taken over Earth, the Angry Birds are looking for new planets to conquer.

Next month, Rovio plans to launch Angry Birds Space, which it says is the biggest expansion of the franchise thus far.

“Angry Birds Space is a completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love — plus some surprises,” Rovio’s Sini Matikainen said in an email.

In addition to the game itself, Rovio plans to simultaneously release publishing, animation, retail and other space-themed projects.

It’s not the first Angry Birds spinoff. The company has its Angry Birds Seasons game, which adds various holiday motifs, as well as Angry Birds Rio, a movie tie-in game.
