Deutsche Telekom Earnings Get Boost From T-Mobile

Deutsche Telekom on Thursday reported stable first-quarter operating profit after a better-than-expected performance by its large U.S. mobile business, and said it remains on track to meet its outlook for the full year.

The former German state telecommunications monopoly said revenue in the three months ended March 31 slipped 1.1 percent on the year to €14.43 billion as it continues to struggle with the economic headwinds in many parts of Europe. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and one-time items, a number that tracks operational performance, remained unchanged at €4.48 billion, slightly ahead of analysts’ predictions.
