New York Pension Fund Sues Qualcomm Over Political Spending Records
The New York State Common Retirement Fund has filed a lawsuit against chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. for the right to inspect the company’s books and records for political spending, New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli said Thursday.
The public pension fund, Mr. DiNapoli said, has taken a leading role in pressing for disclosures of political spending since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision, which struck down limits on corporate spending in elections. The fund holds assets in trust of more than one million employees and retirees of state government, most local governments and some public authorities.
