RadioShack Corp.’s first-quarter loss widened sharply, bringing in results well below Street views as revenue tumbled and margins narrowed, even as the company’s new chief executive hinted at changes to come.
RadioShack’s growth strategy in recent years has focused on selling popular tablet computers and smartphones to help offset declining sales of consumer electronics such as computers and cameras. But smartphones carry lower profit margins than its traditional products, and RadioShack has logged a string of losses recently.
